Earth Movement Insurance

42 states have substantial potential to experience damage from an earthquake. Yet, only about 11% of American homeowners carry earthquake insurance.  

REInsurePro’s Earth Movement offering provides coverage for earthquake shock and includes sinkhole insurance, a peril to which nearly 40% of the country is susceptible. Policies fit within our monthly reporting form and can be standalone or added to existing coverage.

Earth Movement Coverage

Earth Movement insurance protects properties from damage caused by an earthquake (sudden and violent shaking of the ground resulting from movement of the Earth’s crust) and provides coverage for naturally occurring sinkholes. 

Availability & Exclusions

Earth Movement coverage is available in 45 states. Coverage does not extend to damage caused by mudslides, landslides, lava flow, flooding, or any other event that is a secondary effect of the earthquake. 

Earth Movement Cost

Monthly premiums for Earth Movement start as low as $10 and vary based on the value and location of the property.  

Earth Movement coverage through REInsurePro is unavailable for properties in Alaska, California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, and any location where REInsurePro does not provide coverage.

Up to $3MM per location with underwriting approval required for locations over $750,000. 

10% of the Total Insured Value per location, subject to a $2,500 minimum per location.  

The following states are considered higher risk for earthquakes and/or sinkholes: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington.
