What led you to become an insurance agent?

My first job was in a manufacturing setting. So, I found out early on that I didn’t really like working with machinery or equipment, but I liked dealing with people.  

What are the biggest challenges you are seeing in the market for your investor clients and how are you advising them through those challenges?

Due to catastrophic claims across the United States, all insurance pricing is continuing to trend up. I do my best to educate my clients, and inform them that every investor will now have more at stake with deductibles on the increase, roof settlement schedules in place, Actual Value schedules on roofs that used to be Replacement Cost, and cost of building materials increasing due to catastrophic natural disaster losses nationwide.

What steps do you take to educate clients about their policies and coverage options?

I try to discuss the policy with each investor, explaining the coverages, exclusions, and their deductibles.  

What advice would you give other REIP agents?

As someone who has been in the insurance industry for 32 years, you should always be looking for an advantage in the marketplace. It’s important to connect with your clients and build valuable relationships. Your clients will take care of you in this volatile industry, as much as you are taking care of them. Keep learning and make today better than yesterday.
